Medical Mission 2020

What Is a Medical Mission Trip: Medical missions are trips in which trained medical and dental professionals travel to foreign countries with a specific medical purpose for a designated period of time. This can vary in duration from one week to years depending on the organization.

Who We Are and What Do We Do: Ms. Carmelita (Amie) Rubio Lao is a native of Atimonan, Quezon, Phl. For the past 4 decades, she has worked both as an emergency room and traveling registered nurse in various parts of America. She recently retired in 2012 and has been involved with several medical missions in different parts of the Philippines.
Now, with the guidance of Dr. Nenita Basa, the generosity of the Diocese of Lucena, the assistance of Msgr. Noel Villareal, Fr. Romel Limbo, Ed Altamira and some dedicated alumni of Quezon Memorial School, Amie plans to organize and help raise funds for a medical mission situated in the impoverished community in which she was raised so that they too, could directly benefit from the vital and much-needed healthcare offerings of a mission. Services will range from basic patient care to more involved procedures including ENT and gynecological surgeries, dental surgery as well as providing medical supplies, books and food to the area.
The Mt. Carmel Diocesan General Hospital of the Diocese of Lucena has partnered with Amie Lao and this dedicated group of individuals to make this medical mission possible.

Where and When Do We Go The duration of this medical mission will be from May 9-16, 2020. All patient surgeries will be conducted from May 9-11 at Mt. Carmel Diocesan General Hospital (MCDGH) in Lucena City, Quezon Province. During the remaining dates, general medical care will be provided to the local community at the OLAA Covered Court in Atimonan, Quezon from May 12-14, 2020. The last two days of the mission will be spent as cultural days, immersing ourselves in the local culture of the Province of Quezon.
